Mine Filter Self-rescuer ZL60
THE Mine Filter Self-rescuer ZL60 is an open-circuit breathing apparatuswhich filters carbon monoxide andis used for personal emergency escape from underground miningwithin 60 minutes.
Product Features & Advantages
THE Mine Filter Self-rescuer ZL60 Using open-circuit breathing technology, this self-rescuer employs a catalyst to convert hazardous carbon monoxide in the air into non-toxic carbon dioxide at normal temperatures. It safeguards users in environments where oxygen concentration is ≥18% and carbon monoxide concentration is ≤1.5%.
With a protective duration of ≥60 minutes, the ZL60 provides ample time for safe emergency evacuation from underground mining sites, ensuring users can escape danger without running out of clean air.
Constructed from durable 304 stainless steel, the self-rescuer is built to withstand harsh conditions. Measuring just 100 mm x 93 mm x 133 mm and weighing 1KG, it’s lightweight and easy to carry, fitting comfortably for quick access during emergencies.
Maintains an inhalation temperature of ≤60℃, reducing respiratory discomfort and allowing for smoother breathing during critical moments.
Backed by a 1-year warranty, it has a service life of 3 years and a storage life of 5 years when kept at temperatures between 5~35℃, ensuring reliability when needed most.

Product Description

Operation Manual of ZL60 Filter Self-Rescuer  20090512

A Introduction

1. Application

ZL60 Filter Self-Rescuer short for self-rescuerapplies to no coal, gas and carbon dioxide outburst mine. The oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere should not less than 18%, carbon monoxide concentration not more than 1.5%, and no other poison gas exits. It is a protective device for personal breathing which can be used to protect from carbon monoxide poisoning in a fire or gas explosion at the mine environment. Operating personnel must carry about it for emergency. It only used as personal escape.

B. Working principle and Structure

The self-rescuer was designed by the principle that under normal temperature the carbon monoxide in air can generate the carbon dioxide by carbon monoxide accelerant (accelerant, same below) when chemical reaction. The chemical reaction equation is as follows:

image.png

The chemical reaction equation reveals that heat has been produced during the reaction, so there is a device in the self-rescuer designed to reduce the temperature.

A canister of the self-rescuer is sealed in a case shell which consists of the upper/bottom shells, sealing ring, sealing strap, unlocking-wrench, waistband suspension loop, sealing stamp and number-plate. The case shell is resistance to collide, that the self-rescuer can be durable to use and storage for a long time. See figure 1 for the structure of the self-rescuer and see figure 2 for canister structure.

Figure 1.

When using the canister, the air contained carbon monoxide enters into the drying agent layer through dust-filtered layer; which can absorb the water in the air effectively so that the accelerant is protected from been poisoning to fail.Then the dried air into accelerant layer to make an oxidation reaction, oxidizing.poisonous carbon monoxideCO into innoxious carbon dioxideCO2. The innoxious air will cool down,through a temperature reduction net before being breathed by mouthpiece and the exhalation will be directly discharged via an exhalation valve. In avoid of rocking and colliding which make a free space of the drying agent layer, the canister is equipped with a set of compensating spring.

The carbon monoxide accelerant complies with requirement of MT 869-2000Carbon Monoxide Accelerant for Filter Self-Rescuer

The drying agent complies with requirement of MT 868-2000 Drying Agent for Filter Self-Rescuer

D. Application drawing of wearing a self-rescuer

1Put   the   belt   through   the   waistband suspension loop of the self-rescuer and fastethe belt.

2、Take down the protection cover firstly when using.

3、Open the red-marked unlocking-wrench andthe sealing strap drop off. The self-rescuer is turned on.

4、Open the upper shell of self-rescuer.

5、Hold  of  the  headband  and  pull  out  the canister

6、Take down the safety cap and wear the headband well.

7、Unhinge the nose clip and clip it onto nose.

8、Put the mouthpiece in mouth and bite it. Close lips tightly.

9、Put on the safety cap and pullout from the site.

10、In case the case shell is impaired and unable to take out the canister, just hold the bottom of shell for normal breathing.
